Description:
First Mile is recruiting for an experienced Transport Manager to join the team in North Acton, London on a 3-month fixed-term contract.
The successful candidate will manage and support daily transport operations, oversee supplier relationships and ensure commercial effectiveness across the fleet.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Full ownership of fleet operations across North Acton and Oldbury depots (approx. 90 vehicles)
- Ensuring all fleet assets are serviced and MOT compliant, with all paperwork and systems updated promptly
- Sourcing and managing third-party suppliers (eg garages) to ensure competitive service provision
- Investigating vehicle accidents and infringements and completing required follow-up actions
- Managing and maintaining vehicle trackers, cameras and monitoring systems
- Preparing and submitting fleet and driver safety performance reports
- Supporting FORS and ISO audit processes to ensure compliance
- Ensuring all drivers hold relevant documentation (eg tacho cards, driving licences, driver handbooks)
- Reviewing vehicle systems and processes to drive operational improvements
- Allocating and managing vehicle resources to support changing operational needs
- Ensuring efficient utilisation of driver and vehicle resources
Requirements:
- Comprehensive knowledge of fleet regulations
- Experience with FORS and ISO (desirable)
- Previous management experience in logistics or a related field
- National or International CPC (essential)
- Good IT skills
- Strong organisational and budget-handling skills
- Good understanding of transport regulations

About Women in Logistics (WiL)
Women in Logistics UK CIC is a not-for-profit community interest company supporting, connecting, and advancing women across the logistics and supply chain sectors. We run events, development opportunities, and community initiatives across the UK.
To support our continued growth, we’re seeking part-time administrative support to assist with day-to-day operations.
Role Overview
The role provides general admin support to help keep operations running smoothly, with occasional cover responsibilities if our core admin support is unavailable. It’s well-suited to someone early in their career, a student, a recent graduate, or anyone looking to develop practical administrative experience within a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Typical tasks may include:
- Basic email handling and inbox triage
- Updating spreadsheets and shared records
- Supporting membership processes (e.g. checking forms, updating data)
- Scheduling and follow-ups
- Supporting event administration (e.g. tracking sign-ups, attendee lists)
- Light research and information gathering
- General day-to-day admin activities
Who This Role Might Suit
This could be a good fit for someone who is:
- Early in their career or developing admin skills
- Interested in community, events, or logistics
- Organised, reliable, and comfortable working independently
- Friendly, positive, and willing to learn
- Confident using email, spreadsheets, and shared online folders
- Self-employed (or willing to register) and able to invoice monthly
- In or near Warwickshire/Coventry (not essential, but helpful)
- Experience in admin or events is welcome, but not required — guidance will be provided during onboarding.
